2020 Chinese Children's Digital Reading Report was Released in Hangzhou Ten Billion Pieces of Data Obtained from KaDa Story Provide Insights into the Future of Chinese Children's Digital Reading

Guided by the Chinese Academy of Press and Publication (CAPP), KaDa Story held the 2021 China Children’s Digital Reading Conference in Hangzhou and released 2020 Chinese Children's Digital Reading Report.


Yang Bo, co-founder of KaDa Story, interpreted the "2020 Chinese Children's Digital Reading Report" at the conference. Yang Bo pointed out that the Chinese online education market witnessed a sharp rise and was valued at 257.3 billion RMB in 2020. The market share of preschool education, quality education and K12 training continued to increase, accounting for 42.4% in 2020.

During the pandemic of Covid-19, online education has reached a critical point when the number of users soaring and the scale of revenue expanding with over 56% of users being very optimistic about the future prospects of online education in China.


During the period from January to April 2020, when China was experiencing an intense pandemic situation, children’s activities in China were relatively simple and the circulation of books was limited and digital reading became an important way for parent-child activities. According to data, the willingness of users in lower-tier cities to pay for children's digital reading in 2020 increased and the growth rate of paying users in these cities surpassed far beyond those in first and second-tier cities.


Yang Bo said that the development of Internet technology had directly promoted education equality. Children in remote rural areas could also enjoy the same quality of reading education as students in big cities.


The Content of Children's Digital Reading Can be Safer than Books


But this does not mean that technology is only embodied in the advantages of educational equity. He Wenhui, CTO of KaDa Story, suggested at the conference that the three key factors of children's digital reading were safety, personalization, and fun. He emphasized safety and he thought that digital reading could be safer than paper books.
