Summit Forum Held on the Sidelines of the 4th HIIFF

A summit forum on how the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) facilitates the film industry was held on the sidelines of the 4th Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF) in south China’s Hainan Province on the morning of Dec. 18, during which many experts shared their views.

As one of the pilot projects of the Hainan FTP, HIIFF has become an important window to display the image of the FTP, while the FTP, which develops rapidly, provides much support for HIIFF.

Many policies of the FTP are favorable to the film industry. The zero-tariff policy is conducive to the import of film equipment. The low tax rate policy is beneficial to film enterprises. And a more relaxed entry-exit policy can help address a shortage of film talents.

“The perspectives the experts shared at the forum significantly boosted the confidence of the current film market,” said Yu Jianhong, Vice President of Beijing Film Academy, who added that the HIIFF will enable more people to know about the favorable policies of FTP, and attract more film enterprises, talents, and technologies to Hainan.

Thanks to years of development, HIIFF has gone beyond the scope of a festival for film screening, and has helped cultivate a dazzling array of film talents and bring numerous film projects to Hainan, injecting fresh vitality into the FTP development.
